For many years now, we’ve
guided & hunted from underground pits. The pits are awesome, yet a
pit is only as good a killin’ hole as its cover is at keeping you
hid. We have tried everything from roller doors, sliding doors,
doors on tracks, chicken wire, bundles of corn, decoys over our
heads...You name it. Every season we would hear complaints from
hunters like "I can’t see what’s going on.", "I can’t see the
birds.", "My lid is stuck.", "It’s so heavy.", "I smashed my head.
You got a band-aid?", "I ripped my coat." All great for repeat
business.
After the easy installation of
a dozen single Fox Den™ pit covers and running a couple hundred
hunters through I heard nothing but "Wow! These pit covers are
cool. I can see everything." "Where did you get these?" "Where is
the pit?" "These work great!" That is music to my ears.
A few screws, a few corn stalks
or Quack™ Grass, a few minutes and the 40 foot pit completely
disappeared. We were worried about the snow, yet the stalks and
the Quack™ Grass weaved in the attached straps held the snow and
the white. Total concealment, great visibility, plus the calls
don’t sound muffled. Quick and effortless coming out of the hole,
and we had no rips, tear or breakage. The birds didn’t even know
we were there until it was much too late! We used to lose precious
seconds opening other types of heavy, bulky lids especially on
those windy days getting birds ten out and ten up and calling the
shot and the first shell drops a bird out at 40 yards. With the
Fox Den™ covers the last shell is fired at the only one left in
the flock if not already dead, and that bird is at 40 yards. We
are certain we are educating far fewer birds, increasing our
harvest with more clean kills and creating fewer disruptions in
the hunt chasing cripples. These pit lids are adjustable,
adaptable, durable, affordable and non-glare. We are all about
being hid in the field and this is a great product. I hope you are
